it is, what it is

words were everything,
proving that you have to speak
and you have to win the siege,
that you are under.
but words alone would never speak
what it really means
to any of us.

words meant nothing to you,
you gave them out like candy
and received them like that as well.
You only consumed,
when it was meant to be appreciated
and instead of listening in
you dished them out.

words hold meaning
and say more than they do,
but even if they do,
who am I to know
if you speak true,
or if somebody else
speaks through you?

I’ve seen it firsthand,
the mind thinks,
but in reality
pain is,
just simple thoughts,
destructive forms,
but we let them rampage.

I believe in truth,
you believed to speak truth,
unaware
of your true target
and the hearts
that got hurt
in the process.

I thought
I gave you space,
to think
and to see my case,
thought you needed time
to understand your own,
but instead
you took the shortcut,
me against you
and never “we”.

words mean a lot,
and I hope
that no one has
forgotten,
what it truly means
to speak to
each other.

humans do,
as humans do,
but humans do
dumb shit too.
