Dear visitors of the WGT,
We are working at full speed on the preparations for the upcoming WGT from June 3 to 6, which can normally take place again after the government's decision to lift all restrictions on events from April 3. Advance ticket sales will start soon.
Yesterday we got surprised by a press release from the city of Leipzig on the accommodation of refugees from Ukraine on the agra grounds, a press release that was expressly not agreed with us. An included statement by the city in which a possible cancellation of the WGT was mentioned caused a lot of irritation. The city had already indicated to us that it was considering accommodating refugees at the agra, but we made clear that the loss of the agra as essential part of the WGT would cause a serious problem for the usual organisation of the WGT. We fully understand the plight of the refugees and the urgency of their accommodation, but now we expect the promised support from the city in finding another adequate location as well as further help.
