I don't know. (Ich kann es nicht sagen)
But it holds me, (Aber es beschäftigt mich)
it keeps me (Es bringt mich...)
in a place (Zu einem Ort)
that is not at all perfect, (Der überhaupt nicht perfekt ist)
that is not easy, not heaven, (Das ist nicht leicht, kein Himmel)
not what I want for the rest of my life. (Nicht das was ich für den Rest meines Lebens möchte.)

Still, I stay. (Ich warte nun)
Because I am not at all perfect, (Da ich ganz und gar nicht perfekt bin)
I am not easy, not heaven, (Ich bin nicht leicht, nicht der Himmel)
and not what I want to be for the rest of my life. (Und nicht das was ich für den Rest meines Lebens sein möchte)

I'm not where you are, (Ich bin nicht da, wo dubist)
I simply hope, I'm gonna be there one day. (Ich hoffe schlicht und einfach, eines Tages dort zu sein)
I'm not what you need, (Ich bin nicht das was du brauchst)
I'm lacking all the life-experience. (Ich ermangle alle Lebenskenntnisse)
I am me - now and here, (Ich bin ich - hier und jetzt)
and that is not enough for you. (Und das sollte dir rechen.)

I stay and hope, (Ich warte und hoffe)
that in the future I will be ALL THAT. (Das ich irgendwann in der Zukunft ALL DAS SEIN KANN)
And that then, you will still be there, (Und das du dann dort sein wirst)
although I know (obgleich ich weiß)
I'm already losing you day by day. (Dass ich ich dich jeden Tag ein Stückchen mehr verliere)
